Got burned by a bogus HVAC review on Yelp last week

Found a company in Denver with 4.8 stars and 200 reviews, but after they botched my AC install I realized half those comments were from accounts with only one review. Has anyone else dealt with fake reviews in home services?

Man, I got burned the same way with a plumber in Phoenix... "4.8 stars and 200 reviews" sounded too good to be true, and it was. They flooded my basement and half those reviews were from accounts with like zero other activity. It's such a scam, and Yelp does nothing about it even when you report them. I started cross-checking on Google and Nextdoor now before I hire anyone for home stuff.

Check the date on reviews too, old ones can be fake and make a place look way better than it is.
