Rant: A one star review with no text got my shop 3 calls asking if we closed
A lady left a one star review on our Google page in March with zero words, just the star. We got 3 calls in two days from regulars asking if we shut down. Meanwhile the review where a guy wrote two full paragraphs about a slow oil change and said the price was fair did nothing to us. I had to post a photo of the open sign to calm people down. Does a rating with no words actually help anyone decide anything?
Man, I gotta disagree on this one. When I'm scrolling through reviews on my phone, the star count is the first thing my eyes go to, and a bunch of one stars with no words still makes me nervous even if I know it's silly. Like it or not, that blank one star reads as "so bad I can't even talk about it" to a stranger who doesn't know your shop. Sure, your regulars calling is annoying, but at least they cared enough to check, the silent five stars are the ones who just keep driving. I'd take the calls over lost walk-ins any day.
