That $49 'premium' shoe shine kit nearly wrecked my leather boots
Bought a fancy kit from a shop on Market Street, figured the horsehair brush and wax would be a step up. Followed the instructions and the paste turned my dark brown boots into a streaky mess with weird residue. Took a second trip to a real cobbler, who fixed them for $25 and said the wax was too aggressive for that leather. Anyone else get burned by a split-brand accessory, or is it just me?

That wax did exactly what it should, your boots just were never meant for cheap leather.
