That Yelp review I ignored saved my catering order

Last month I booked a caterer for a baby shower based on their 4.8 stars, but one 2-star review said they showed up 40 minutes late and served cold food. I figured it was a one-off bad day, so I went ahead anyway. They arrived 35 minutes late, the pulled pork was lukewarm, and I had to reheat everything in the host's oven. Total rental and food cost was $780, and half the guests said something about it. Now I read the lowest-rated reviews first before I book anyone, especially for events with a set time. Has anyone else gotten burned by ignoring a single bad review?
