Went with the $200 local plumber over the $120 big chain and now I'm not sure

Called a name brand company after my toilet backed up and they quoted me $120 for a snake, but the family owned guy who came recommended wanted $200 - figured I'd pay extra for trust. He cleared it in ten minutes but left a wet rag on my hardwood and now there's a watermark, so has anyone else had luck with either option long term?

Is this kind of like how people pay more for a "handmade" item on Etsy but it shows up looking jankier than something from Target? I feel like the local guy route is a gamble, sometimes you get someone who really cares about their work, other times you get a guy who rushes through it and leaves a mess. With the big chains they have like standard procedures and insurance for when they mess up, but the trade-off is they might try to upsell you on stuff you don't need. Honestly it's like picking between two different kinds of annoying.
