Hot take: autoplay is broken and nobody seems to care
I timed YouTube's autoplay last Tuesday because I was bored. I watched one video about fixing a leaky faucet, and the next 6 recommendations were all lawn mower repairs. Not a single one was about plumbing. I checked my history and the algorithm had me pegged as a landscaper after that one faucet video. It's like it only hears half the words I say. My friend in Portland says the same thing happens to him with cooking videos. Why does it think watching one thing means I want 50 more of the exact same thing? Has anyone else noticed the recommendations getting weirder lately?
