TIL my smart TV thinks I'm a 50 year old mom who loves soap operas

I was messing with my TV settings last night. Checked the ad profile it built on me. It had me down as interested in daytime dramas and parenting magazines. I'm a 28 year old guy who only watches football and horror movies. How does that mix up happen so bad? Anyone else have their algorithm profile totally wrong?

Maybe it's secretly picking up shows playing in the background while you're glued to your phone during commercials. Could also be that someone logged into their streaming account on your TV once and it merged both profiles together weirdly. Either way, creepy how bad their data mining is when it can't even tell a horror fan from a daytime drama junkie lol.

Huh, never thought of the background audio thing but that actually makes way too much sense.
