Vent: a mod told me my 'algorithm fail' post was just bad tagging, and now I'm not sure what counts as busted
I posted a screenshot last month of my feed showing me 14 straight ads for standing desks and zero for the lumbar cushion I actually searched for. A mod replied and said that's just retargeting doing its job, not a busted algorithm, and told me to read the sidebar. So now I leave out any guesses about why the ad is wrong and just post the raw screenshot, and honestly the posts do better. But here's my problem: if an algorithm does the thing it was built to do, even when the result is dumb as hell, does that belong here or not? Where do you all draw the line between a real fail and just creepy normal targeting?
