Appreciation post: that old timing light I almost threw away

I was skeptical about using my dad's 1972 timing light, figured modern gear was better. But after 3 tries getting my V8 to idle right, that old light nailed the 12 degrees where my fancy digital one kept bouncing around. Anyone else trust the clunky vintage tools over the new stuff sometimes?
