Pro tip: don't let a guy at the auto parts counter talk you into the "right" spark plug gap
Stopped by a NAPA over on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie last Saturday to grab plugs for my 327, and the kid behind the counter swore up and down I needed to gap them to 0.060 instead of the 0.035 the book calls for on my old points setup. I said thanks but no thanks, and he actually followed me out to the parking lot to argue about it in front of two other customers. Ended up going with the factory spec and the car runs fine, so now I'm wondering if I'm the jerk here or if he was just repeating something he saw on a forum. Anybody else had a parts counter guy try to overrule your service manual?
