Pulled the tarp off my 1966 Mustang after 4 years in a Sacramento garage and found a mouse hotel
About a month ago I finally got around to pulling the tarp off my 66 Mustang that had been sitting in my buddy's garage out in Sacramento since 2020, and man, I wasn't ready for what was under there. I found chewed up wiring near the firewall, a nest built into the air cleaner, and droppings all over the intake. The battery was dead as expected, but what really got me was the brake fluid reservoir was almost bone dry and the pedal went straight to the floor. I spent most of that Saturday just cleaning out the mess and tracing wires to see what the mice actually wrecked. The carb was gummed up something awful too from old gas sitting in it all that time. Now I'm wondering if I should just replace the whole harness or splice in the damaged sections, since the rest of it looks okay. Any of you dealt with a car that sat this long and how did you tackle the wiring nightmare first?
