Put Marvel Mystery Oil in my 289 and my oil pressure gauge did something weird
I read on three different forums that adding Marvel Mystery Oil to the crankcase would quiet lifter tick on my 66 Mustang, so I dumped in half a quart on a Friday night before a 120 mile round trip to my brother's place in Stockton. The tick did quiet down, which was great. But about 40 miles in, my oil pressure gauge started bouncing around between 25 and 45 psi at steady highway speed, which it had never done before. I pulled over twice checking for leaks and found nothing. Did a full oil change the next morning with 10W-30 and a new filter and it's been rock steady since. Did I just thin the oil out too much with that stuff, or am I missing something else going on here?
