Shoutout to the guy who told me to check my timing chain slack

Had a '67 Mustang that was running rough and I kept chasing carburetor issues for months. This older mechanic at a shop in Dayton told me to look at the timing chain first before spending another dime on jets and gaskets. Sure enough there was almost 10 degrees of slop in the chain that was throwing everything off. Has anyone else had a simple check like that save them from throwing parts at a problem they didn't have?
