Chose a $3 beat-up Silver Age issue over a mint copy from the 90s and feel great about it

Man, that's the whole vibe right there. I still remember finding a beat-to-hell copy of Amazing Spider-Man #50 at a flea market that had a huge coffee ring on the cover and the spine was basically held together with tape and good intentions. Paid like $2 for it and honestly, the character in that book is something you just don't get from a factory-fresh copy. I'd take that over a perfect 9.8 of something from the Chromium Age any day. The wear tells a story, even if you have to squint past a crayon drawing some kid left on it lol.

Not to be that guy, but "Silver Age" usually refers to like 1956-1970, not beat-up issues from the 70s or early 80s. Still, picking a book with some life to it over a cardstock cover from the 90s is always the right call. That old paper smell and the wear just feels more real.
