Dropped $300 on a signed first issue of The Walking Dead that turned out to be a fake

Paid a dealer at a con in Cleveland for it, then a different guy at another booth told me the signature was printed on. Anyone else get burned by fake signatures at shows?

Wait, he asked for money just to verify it? That's honestly sketchy. I can't believe people actually fall for that.
