Dropped $60 on a golden age Flash comic at a garage sale

Found this beat up Flash Comics #1 from the 40s hidden in a box at a sale in Akron last weekend. Guy wanted $80 but I talked him down to $60 because the cover is almost detached. Brought it home and realized it's actually a 5th printing but still worth maybe $150 on a good day. Felt like a win until my buddy pointed out the spine is taped and now I'm not sure if I overpaid. Anyone else ever buy a key issue with major defects and regret it later?

Honestly, Richard, you're probably right but I've done worse. Bought a copy of Amazing Spider-Man #300 at a flea market for $50 and got home to find out the last page was ripped out and replaced with a printed copy. @richard_roberts80 I feel like garage sale comics are always a gamble where you either win big or lose your lunch money. That Flash #1 with the taped spine still sounds cool to have on a shelf even if it's not worth the full $150. I keep a few beat up books around just to remind myself that not every deal is a score.

Yeah, you overpaid by about forty bucks for a comic that's literally falling apart.
