Got 30% off a longbox at my LCS just by asking on a Tuesday

Went to pick up a few back issues at my shop in Portland and mentioned I was looking for a bigger longbox. The owner Brian said he had a used one in the back, dust on it, and gave me $18 off the $60 price because Tuesdays are his slow day. Told a buddy at the meetup and he tried it at his place, got a free divider with a damaged corner. Has anyone else gotten deals by just asking about dinged up storage or display stuff?

Man, that's the trick right there, just ask about the stuff nobody wants to look at. I've scored a couple of dented display cases that way, saved a good chunk and they still do the job fine.
