Had to choose between a golden age Superman or a first print Walking Dead #1 at a con last month

I went with the Superman because the seller gave me a weird look when I asked to flip through the Walking Dead (you know, to check the pages). Did I mess up or is that a solid pick for a long term collection?

Did the seller even let you check the spine for creases or just give you a hard no? Because a first print Walking Dead #1 with a clean spine and white pages is still a huge get, way rarer than people realize. Golden age Superman is a solid anchor but there's like a dozen reprints of those early issues floating around, the Walking Dead first print is a one and done deal. Long term that zombie book might outpace the Supes if the market keeps blowing up for modern keys.

20 bucks says you could still find a decent Walking Dead #1 raw for under $200 if you keep looking. Golden age Superman is a classic anchor for any collection, flipping through pages isn't worth the awkwardness with a seller who's already being weird.
