I finally blew $60 on a graded copy of X-Men #1 from 1991 and the cert was fake

Sent it to CGC myself after buying it from a booth at a Nashville con last March and they told me the case was a knockoff so now I'm out the cash plus grading fees, has anyone else gotten burned on slabbed books from smaller shows?

Man that sucks, I got burned on a slabbed Hulk 181 at a local show back in 2018, same exact thing happened with a fake label inside a real case. The guy at the booth swore it was legit too, even showed me his "certificate" from some rando grading company I'd never heard of.

Honestly though is it really THAT serious? You're out what like a few hundred bucks on a comic that's been reprinted a million times anyway. People act like getting scammed on a slab is the end of the world when you could just buy a raw copy and be done with it.
