I finally came around on silver age comics after hating them for years
I used to think silver age stuff was just goofy and dated, over the top dialogue and those weird alien plots. But my buddy in Portland loaned me a stack of old Fantastic Four issues from the early 60s last month. The art had this raw energy that modern coloring can't touch, and the characters felt like real people bickering and working things out. It took reading about 15 issues back to back to see how those stories built the whole foundation for what we have now. Anyone else change their mind on a whole era after giving it a real shot?

Man, 15 issues back to back probably changes anyone's perspective. The bickering you mentioned is the main thing that kept me from ever getting into that era, it just felt like nobody could get along for two panels. I guess it worked out for them though since it basically invented the modern superhero team.

Nobody could get along for two panels" is kind of the whole point though, right? Like, is it really that different from the way people act today online or in group texts? @wade_young86 you probably just needed to see it as a feature not a bug.
