My buddy swore Deadpool was just a joke character until I showed him the Joe Kelly run
Back in 2017, my friend Dave kept saying Deadpool was nothing but a meme. I told him there's real depth in the early stuff if you look past the jokes. I loaned him the first 12 issues from Joe Kelly's run and he called me after issue 4 saying he finally got it. Has anyone else had to defend a character like that to a skeptic?

Nora I think you're reading WAY too deep into it lol. Wade keeps Blind Al around because he needs someone to bounce jokes off of, not some profound trauma thing.

Did he say what exactly clicked for him after issue 4? lol. Cause I feel like that's around the point where you start seeing Wade's whole "I'm gonna make you laugh so you don't see how broken I am" thing really come through. The stuff with Blind Al and how he keeps her around even though he treats her like crap is super telling. What was his take on that dynamic?
