My cousin told me to stop reading Marvel and DC for a year and try indie comics

He said this about two years ago, and I thought he was crazy. I was deep into the big two, buying maybe 15 books a month. I finally gave in and picked up 'Saga' and 'Something is Killing the Children'. After six months, I realized my pull list was almost all Image and Boom titles. The stories just felt fresher and more focused. Has anyone else made a big switch like that and found it totally changed what you collect?

Your cousin gave you great advice. I had a similar shift after reading "The Department of Truth." It made me realize how many big two books were just spinning wheels in crossover events. My budget goes a lot further on stories that actually have a planned ending now.

Come on, it's just comics. Sometimes a dumb crossover is exactly what you need. Not everything has to be high art with a perfect ending.
