Question about the shift from single issues to collected editions

Back in 2005, I was really against buying trade paperbacks. I thought you had to get the monthly floppy to be a real fan. My local shop in Portland had a wall of them, and I ignored it for years. What changed my mind was reading 'Y: The Last Man' in trade form after it was done. Getting the whole story at once, without ads, just felt better. It made me see the value in waiting. Has anyone else switched from monthlies to trades as their main way to read?

Totally get that, it's like how I stopped watching weekly TV and just wait for the whole season to drop now.

My friend group tried to watch that new space show together last month. We all started on Friday night, but by Saturday morning two people had finished the whole thing. They were texting about the big twist ending while the rest of us were still on episode three. It completely ruined the fun of guessing what would happen next. The group chat went dead for a week until everyone was finally done.

Yeah @ruby_thomas43, waiting for the whole season is the move for sure. But I kinda miss the weekly drop sometimes, it gave everyone something to talk about at the same time. Now the whole show gets spoiled in a day if you're not caught up. Binging is great but it kills the water cooler chat, you know?
