Snagged the final Silver Surfer #4 after a decade-long search.

I've been putting together a full run of Silver Surfer for about ten years now. That number 4 issue from the early run was always the one that got away. I must have looked through a hundred long boxes at cons and shops over the years. Every time I saw it online, the price was way too high or the condition was poor. Last month, I was visiting my cousin and stopped at a tiny comic store in his town. There it was, tucked in the back, with a price tag that didn't make my heart sink. The book is in really nice shape, no major creases or color breaks. It feels good to have the set done, more about the chase being over than anything else.

How'd you keep at it for so long? I just made a habit of checking every small shop I saw, never rushed it.

Honestly, that's awesome. I know that exact feeling of the one book that just will not turn up. Tbh my own hunt for a decent ASM #300 felt like checking in on a bad ex for a while, you know? Just constantly looking with no real hope. Ngl, finding that last piece and the chase being over is a different kind of relief. Congrats on finishing the run, especially with a clean copy of #4.

Isn't finishing the run kind of a letdown though? The fun part was always having a reason to dig through those boxes and hunt. Now that you've got it, what's left to look for? I've seen people finish a big collection and then just feel sort of empty, like the hobby lost its point. Maybe the chase was the whole point.
