Stopped by Midtown Comics last weekend and noticed something weird about the longboxes

I was digging through the back issue bins at Midtown Comics on Saturday and realized the older longboxes near the register had way better deals than the new ones up front. Like I found a Detective Comics #650 for 5 bucks in one of those beat-up boxes while the newer sections had the same issue marked at 12. My theory is the staff just tosss stuff in there without checking prices as much. Has anyone else found hidden gems by hitting the older storage boxes first?

Honestly I used to think the newer bins were the best bet because they're more organized but you've got a point. I grabbed a Secret Wars #1 from an old box behind the counter for like 3 bucks last month and it was easily in better shape than the ones they had up front for way more. Definitely checking those beat-up longboxes first from now on.

Man I found a first print The Walking Dead #1 in a box labeled "25 cent books" that someone had clearly just tossed in there by mistake. Now I always dig through the junk boxes first because the shop owners usually don't check them too closely.
