Had to choose between a full face mask and a standard dive hat for a month-long harbor job

Honestly, the client wanted us inspecting pilings in Charleston, and the viz was maybe 2 feet on a good day. My boss pushed for the Kirby Morgan 37 because it's the 'industry standard,' but I argued for trying a full face mask with comms for better communication in that muck. We went with the hat to keep the bid lower, and honestly, it was a grind shouting through the tube and dealing with zero eye contact. Has anyone else faced a similar gear choice on a low-viz job, and what did you pick?

Bro it's just a harbor job, not a space walk. You get the work done either way.

Zero eye contact" is the real killer in that muck.
