Hot take: I picked a Kirby Morgan 37 over a helmet and got called crazy

I'm in the Gulf for a pipeline job and everyone runs traditional helmets, but I went with the KM 37 for the weight savings. After 8 hours doing valve inspection 90 feet down, my neck wasn't killing me like the guys with the heavy rigs. My comms stayed clear and the neck dam didn't flood once, even with current. Anyone else use lighter masks for deep work or am I the odd one out?

Ain't that the truth? My neck thanks me every time I go with the 37.

Gotta disagree with you here. I ran a KM 37 on a 120-foot bell dive last year and had constant issues with the neck dam leaking anytime I looked down, even in calm water. Three different neck dams, same problem. Swapped back to my old helmet and zero leaks, even with current pushing me around. The weight savings are real, I get that, but for me the 37 never sealed right and I ended up with water in my ears for days. Take this for what it's worth, but I'd rather have a sore neck than deal with that distraction when I need to focus on the job.
