My primary light gave out at 90 feet during a bridge inspection

It happened Tuesday morning on the Ohio River job. The housing seal failed, and I was left with just my backup. I know a lot of guys swear by that brand, but this is the second time I've had a major failure with their gear in cold, dark water. I had to finish the inspection feeling my way along the piling with my hands. What's a truly reliable primary light you'd trust below 100 feet?

Switched to a different brand after my primary light failed at 80 feet last winter.

That sounds like a scary situation to be in. Read a forum post where a diver said they test their gear in a cold tub at home before any winter dive now. Makes sense because seals and batteries can act different under pressure and in the cold. A failure that deep is no joke. Switching brands seems like the only move after a trust issue like that. Hope the new setup works out better for you.

Man that's rough, I feel for you. Having your primary go out at 90 feet in cold water is a nightmare scenario. I've had a similar thing happen with a cheap backup light on a night dive, and just those few seconds of panic were enough to make me switch brands completely. You gotta be able to trust your gear down there, especially on a job where you're feeling around pilings. Glad you made it out okay to even talk about this.
