Almost lost my whole novel draft to a free writing app glitch
I spent 6 months writing a 300 page fantasy novel in a free app called Yarny and it crashed last week, deleting everything after chapter 2. A $15 backup service called AutoSave Pro saved my work because I had synced it the night before. Has anyone else had a close call like this with a writing tool?

Oh great, so the moral of the story is that free apps are basically just loaning you your novel until they feel like breaking. Glad you learned that lesson for only $15 and a heart attack.

and that's exactly the thing, isn't it? we put all this trust into free stuff because it's convenient, but the second something goes wrong, we're the ones left holding the bag. it's not just writing apps either, you know? i've seen people lose years of photos to free cloud services that just shut down overnight. or those free project management tools that suddenly start capping your files at 10mb. it's like we're all just borrowing space on someone else's computer and hoping they don't pull the plug. the real trick is figuring out where that line is between cheap and careless, and $15 sounds like a bargain for not having to start from scratch on a whole fantasy world.
