Every prompt I see starts with a character waking up and I'm losing it

I've been browsing this sub for about three months now and I swear half the prompts begin with someone opening their eyes to a weird ceiling or checking their phone. Why is that the go-to? It feels like everybody took the same writing class where a teacher said 'start in the middle of action' and nobody understood what that meant. Has anyone else noticed this trend or am I just unlucky with the prompts I click?

Losing it" is right, I'm right there with you. It's always "I woke up in a cold sweat" or "my eyes fluttered open to an unfamiliar ceiling" like every single person on this sub just woke up from the same coma. I've clicked on maybe 20 prompts in the last week and at least 15 of them had someone checking their phone for the time or date as the first line. Feels like everyone copied the same writing prompt generator, man.

Nah, waking up disoriented is a classic hook for a reason, anthony883.
