Heard a poet say "prompts are training wheels" at open mic last week
I was at this open mic in Portland on Thursday and this older guy said writing prompts are just training wheels for real writers. It got me thinking cause I use prompts all the time to start stories and they help me get unstuck. Do most of you see prompts as a crutch or a legit tool for getting ideas flowing?

Feel you there, Christopher. I've been there myself way more times than I'd like to admit. It's rough when you feel like everyone else is zooming ahead and you're still figuring out the basics. But honestly, there's no shame in taking your time - I think most people are just pretending they know what they're doing anyway. We all have to start somewhere, and it's okay to not have it all figured out yet.
