Pro tip: Bartending tales can save your writing prompt routine
I always found writing prompt sites kinda boring. They often repeat stuff like 'a magic door' or 'a talking animal'. It never sparked any good ideas for me. So, I decided to add things from my bartending job. For instance, I used a prompt about a secret and made it about a customer's hidden tab. I wrote a short piece, and it got picked for a community blog. Feels pretty cool to turn a lame process into something that works, lol.

Yeah turning a lame process into something that works is key. I used to wait tables and those weird customer interactions became my best story ideas. Real stuff just hits different.

My barista gig gave me a whole notebook of strange dialogue.

Weird customer interactions" became story ideas? That's wild to me because I always tried to forget those awkward moments right away. I can't imagine sitting down to write them out. That's actually a pretty clever way to use that stress.
