Update: My writing group's prompt quality dropped hard this year
We used to get 3 or 4 solid story starters each month, but for the last 6 months, it's been maybe one decent idea. The shift happened when our main prompt creator moved and the new person just recycles old 'what if' questions from the internet. Last week, someone posted 'What if your reflection started talking?' and three people pointed out we did that one in 2022. It's killing our motivation. Has anyone else's group dealt with a prompt slump and found a way to fix it?

Ugh, this feels like when any good system loses its key person. In my experience, the energy just leaks out and you get stuck repeating stuff. Maybe your group needs to just take turns finding prompts for a while, see if someone new steps up.

Totally feels like a sports team losing its star player. The whole game plan just falls apart without that one person driving things. Rotating the prompt duty is probably the only way to avoid total creative bankruptcy.
