Vent: I wrote a story from the point of view of a coffee cup for a prompt and it got weirdly deep
The prompt was just 'write from the perspective of an object in a room'. I picked a chipped mug in a messy office. Started as a joke, but after about 500 words, the cup was having thoughts about its owner's stress and failed dreams. It got super sad. I learned that even a silly constraint can force you into real character work if you take it seriously. Anyone else have a prompt that started goofy but turned out serious?

I wrote a toaster that was weirdly profound.

My old coffee maker used to make this low hum that sounded exactly like it was whispering "regret". I'd be half asleep at 6 AM and just hear "regret... regret..." from the kitchen. It felt like a judgment on my life choices.

Saw a study once about how people get attached to kitchen gadgets with personality, and apparently it's totally normal to assign them little backstories in your head. So your profound toaster probably has a whole philosophy by now.
