Client told me my Facebook ads were 'too salesy' and I fought back at first

She said people scroll past anything that sounds like a pitch, so I cut the word 'buy' from three of my headlines. Conversions actually went up 12% in the first week. Has anyone else had a client's gut feeling turn out to be right?

Client was right. Quiet ads hit harder.

@graytorres has the right idea. Quiet ads feel like a secret handshake between the brand and the viewer. My own attempts at quiet marketing usually end up being just me whispering my website URL into a coffee cup. It's a fine line between "subtle and effective" and "whoops, did they forget to turn the sound on." But when it works, it really works.
