Heard a podcast host say 'your audience is a niche of one'
They were talking about how we write for this imaginary 'everyone' instead of one specific person. I rewrote my last email campaign picturing my friend Karen who runs a bakery, and the open rate jumped to 47%. Has anyone else tried writing for just one real person?

My cousin's a freelance writer and she swears by writing her blog posts as if she's explaining it to her mom. She says it cuts out all the jargon and makes her sound more human. Her bounce rate dropped by half after she started doing that.

That's a smart trick for some blogs, but it can backfire. If I'm looking up a tech tutorial, I don't need it explained like I've never seen a computer. Too simple feels like you're talking down to me. Sometimes you need the right terms to find answers fast, and skipping them just makes the post longer and harder to scan.

Haha, @patricia_king23 makes a solid point there. I actually saw a study once that said readers in tech forums hated oversimplified guides way more than expected.
