My email open rates jumped 40% after I stopped writing subject lines at night

I used to draft email subject lines late at night and they all sounded clever to me, but nobody opened them. Switched to writing them first thing in the morning after my coffee and tested it over 2 weeks - has anyone else noticed their mood affecting open rates?

Have you tried using a readability tool to see if your nighttime stuff was just too wordy?

Interesting theory but I wonder if it's more about light exposure than mood. Morning light actually spikes cortisol which can make decision making sharper for some people. Could be worth testing subject lines right after sunrise vs afternoon to split those variables apart.
