Ran a $500 FB ad campaign with the audience I thought was perfect and got zero sales

I spent two weeks dialing in targeting for a local roofing service ad, and after 3 days and $500 gone, I had 47 link clicks but not one single inquiry. Turns out my 'perfect' audience was just people who like roofing memes, not people who need a new roof. Anyone else had a campaign flop because you assumed the targeting was right without testing first?

My buddy dumped $300 on ads for his gutter business and got 12 calls from people asking if he'd seen the latest funny meme video.

That's rough... people just don't read past the headline these days. He probably needed to put "gutter cleaning" right in the first few words instead of some funny hook. Memes and gutters just don't mix I guess.
