Spent $500 on a 'done for you' SEO package and got burned
I paid a company about $500 for a basic SEO package they said would get my local dog grooming site ranking. They promised backlinks and on page fixes. What I got was a bunch of spammy links from junk sites and keyword stuffing that made my content read like a robot wrote it. My site actually dropped in the search results after a few months, and I'm pretty sure Google saw the bad links. I had to spend more time and money with a real consultant to clean it up. It was a total waste and set me back. Now I'm super careful about who I hire for this stuff. Has anyone else had to fix a mess from a cheap SEO service? What did you do?

Honestly, that line about your site dropping after a few months is the worst part. Getting those spammy links cleaned up is such a pain and costs way more than the original "service." I had a client come to me with a similar mess from a cheap package, and it took months to disavow all the junk links and rewrite the content.

That whole situation sounds so frustrating. It reminds me of a friend who bought a cheap "social media growth" package that just filled her page with fake followers and weird comments. Sometimes the bargain option ends up costing more in the long run.
