Threw $50 at Instagram ads with no strategy. Here's what actually happened.

I run a small fence repair side gig in Phoenix. Last month I set up a basic Instagram ad for $50, just a photo of a gate I fixed. No targeting, no fancy copy. Got 4 direct messages and 2 actual jobs out of it. That's $800 in revenue from a $50 spend. My mistake was overthinking ads before. Has anyone else had luck just throwing something simple up with zero planning?

Read a case study where someone got similar results just posting raw work photos.

Funny you mention that, reminds me of a friend who tried posting blurry before and after shots with zero staging. He figured authenticity would win people over. Instead, half the comments were asking if his work was even finished. The other half wanted to know why his lighting was so bad. He went back to styled photos after that, but kept the raw ones for his portfolio. Did the case study mention how long it took before the raw photos actually started working for them?
