A 1999 website convinced me to use VHS tapes as bookends

I was cleaning my attic and stumbled upon an old Geocities page about attic organization. Following its advice, I now have a row of VHS tapes holding up my books, and it's a hilarious reminder of how the internet used to be.

Totally get this, and @jennifercooper has a point about it being a website host, but those old sites were full of wild life hacks. Fell down a similar rabbit hole on Tripod once, following a "use what you have" guide that had me using old CD spindles as planters (it did not go well for the plants). The early web was just a beautiful mess of people putting every random thought online, no fact-checking needed. There's a weird charm now in finding physical proof of those bad ideas, like your VHS bookends. Honestly kind of love that you still have them holding up the books.

Actually trusting an attic tip from Geocities is the real surprise here.

Geocities was for websites, not random tips.
