DAE think we write off old web guestbooks too fast?
Everyone acts like guestbooks were just spam magnets, but I see them differently. I keep a folder of links to 90s sites with active guestbooks, like this one from a fan page: http://web.archive.org/web/1999/http://www.fanpage.com/guestbook.html. People had real conversations there, not just likes. It felt more connected than today's comments. My little hobby is finding these gems before they vanish. Why do we value quick clicks over signed messages now?

My Geocities guestbook got overrun with bots in 2002.

Did the bots at least leave entertaining spam?

Try a simple text question like "What's the capital of France?" to filter them out, @lucas_moore.
