Found a 2002 fan page for the band Garbage that still has a guestbook you can sign

I was looking for old concert pics and stumbled on this site with a bright purple background and animated gifs everywhere. The guestbook still works and I left a message from 2024, which felt weird. Has anyone else found a working piece of the old web like that recently?

It's just a guestbook on a fan site, not a time capsule. People get too excited about old HTML. The web is full of stuff that never got taken down, it doesn't mean much.

Hold up, annaw76, did you just call it digital litter? That's the whole point. It's not litter, it's proof. It's a record of how we talked and what we cared about before everything got slick and samey. Finding an old guestbook with people signing it in 2004, talking about a show that got canceled, that means something to someone. The web forgetting stuff is way worse than it keeping too much.

My old Myspace page is still up from 2006. I found it last year and it's just a broken layout with some embarrassing song lyrics. It's like digital litter, stuff we forgot about but the internet never throws away.
