My coworker made me rethink killing my old MySpace page

Been talking to a guy at the office who is 22. I mentioned how I deleted my MySpace page back in 2009 because it felt outdated. He said 'that was a real digital archive of your life, you trashed it.' It hit me different because now I spend hours digging through Wayback Machine trying to find band flyers from 2003. No one told us to save that stuff for the future. Anyone else regret deleting their old profile pages without thinking?

Ngl your coworker is kinda romanticizing something that wasn't that deep. That old MySpace page was probably full of cringey layouts, bad song autoplays, and drama posts you'd rather forget. Wayback Machine exists for a reason, let the rest of that stuff stay buried where it belongs.

Exactly. That 22 year old coworker is acting like we deleted the Library of Alexandria. My old MySpace page had a top 8 that caused actual friendship drama and an autoplaying Fall Out Boy song that crashed my mom's computer every time she tried to check her email. I spent a solid hour on Wayback Machine last year looking for a photo of my first band's show in 2004 and all I found was a broken layout with a bunch of those stupid glitter graphics. Turns out the stuff that got deleted was mostly cringey plus a few memories I already have in a shoebox under my bed anyway. Let the dead bury the dead on this one.
