Remember when the Geocities shutdown was announced and everyone scrambled to save their sites?

That week in 2009 was pure chaos, with the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine getting hammered as people tried to archive their old Angelfire pages and animated GIF guestbooks before they vanished forever... has anyone else got a link to a page they managed to save from that purge?

Man, that whole scramble was wild to watch. I lost my own dumb dragon fan site with a hit counter that said over 9000 visits, lol. Seeing the archive get slammed really showed how much random stuff people actually cared about. It's kinda sad so much of that early web just evaporated. We didn't really think about digital history back then.

Totally get that feeling. My old band's GeoCities page is just gone, lyrics and terrible photos with it. We all thought the internet was forever back then, but it turns out it's the opposite. It's like we built a huge, weird museum and then lost the keys. Makes you want to go back stuff everything into a time capsule.
