That 'don't use spaces in filenames' advice is still valid and I'll die on this hill

Overheard some kid at the coffee shop on Grand Avenue saying spaces in filenames don't matter anymore because modern systems handle them fine. Has anyone else had a script break because someone uploaded a file with spaces in the name?

Oh come on, is this really something worth dying on a hill over? I get it's annoying when scripts break but it's like a 2 second fix to rename stuff lol.
