I was looking for a new hiking spot and found a whole forgotten park system

I was driving down a county road near Morganton last Tuesday and saw a small, faded sign for 'Catawba River Greenway'. I pulled over on a whim and found a perfect 3-mile paved trail along the water, completely empty. It made me realize I'd been relying on the same five 'top rated' parks from hiking apps for years, missing gems that don't show up in searches. How do you all find your local spots that aren't online?

That "forgotten park system" find is so cool. Do you think the faded sign was part of the charm, or just bad upkeep?

Wait, could the city be using faded signs on purpose to keep certain parks under the radar?

That faded sign thing reminds me of a local news story about towns keeping some parks quiet on purpose.
