My dad told me to check the local library's old magazine section for hobby ideas...

I found a 1998 issue of 'Model Railroader' with a full layout plan for a town called Mill Creek. It's way better than anything I see online now. Anyone know other places to find old hobby stuff like that?

Actually used to think those old plans were outdated, but man they have a charm you just don't find anymore.

Better ideas sometimes" is putting it lightly. Those old magazines feel like they were made by people who actually enjoyed the hobby, not just trying to sell you new stuff every month. It's a shame that kind of detail got lost.

Ever check estate sales? Found a whole box of old hobby mags at one last month. The older stuff just has better ideas sometimes.
