Overheard a guy at the hardware store say he finds better tools by digging through estate sales than any YouTube review
Made me think about how much we rely on curated opinions online versus just stumbling onto something that works. Has anyone else found a hidden gem that way?

My dad swore by his weird old estate sale drill that looked like it belonged in a blacksmith shop, and I once paid $20 for a rusty level that turned out to be perfectly accurate. I mean, I've also bought plenty of garbage that way, but my hit rate with garage sale finds is honestly better than my hit rate with anything I've ordered off Instagram ads. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather risk $5 on a mystery tool than watch another 20-minute review that ends up being sponsored by the thing they're reviewing anyway.
