Showerthought: I found a weird old website by clicking random links from a library computer
I was looking up local history at the Seattle library last Tuesday and clicked a footnote link on a city archive page, which led to a personal site from 1998 about forgotten ferry routes. It made me realize how much stuff is just sitting there if you click past the first search result. Has anyone else found a cool corner of the web this way?

Totally. The real internet is buried under all the algorithm stuff. Found a site last year that was just scanned photos of 90s rave flyers from Detroit. Another one was a guy's blog about fixing old pinball machines, with manuals you can't find anywhere else. That stuff never shows up unless you dig.

How do we even find those places anymore? Honestly the search engines feel useless for that now. It's all just the same ten big sites. Tbh I miss when you could fall into a weird little site for hours. That pinball blog sounds amazing, exactly the kind of thing that gets lost. The good stuff is always buried.
